Yuki Nakamura
Director of Investor Relations - Japan
Yuki Nakamura is a global investment executive with over 18 years of experience spanning venture capital, private equity, investment banking, and institutional fund management across Japan and Southeast Asia. A graduate of Doshisha University, his career reflects a rare breadth—from capital markets and fund operations to venture building and institutional LP development.
Starting at MUFG Bank in corporate banking, Yuki went on to join Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities, where he specialized in bond syndication for both domestic yen-denominated and foreign currency bonds. Landmark cross-border transactions in the Japanese yen market earned the firm "Yen Bond House of the Year" recognitions in 2015 and 2017. A subsequent posting to MUFG Bank's APAC headquarters in Singapore broadened his remit to overseeing regional human resources across 20 countries and 8,500 employees. From there, a move into fund management saw Yuki serve in a CFO capacity at a Singapore-based fund platform—taking ownership of all operational functions including finance, accounting, administration, and GP/LP governance—while scaling assets under management to over USD 1 billion across debt and equity strategies.
Most recently, He built a dedicated late-stage venture platform within a leading Japanese private equity firm from the ground up—screening over 500 deals, executing several billion yen in investments, and delivering hands-on value-add support to portfolio companies. A major anchor LP commitment from an institutional bank partner was secured in the process.
At Type One Japan, Yuki leads the Japanese expansion of Los Angeles–based Type One Ventures—connecting the country's institutional investors, regional banks, and corporate partners with top-tier frontier technology startups across AI, space, and robotics, and bridging Japan's deep capital base with the global innovation ecosystem.
