Rhian Wade

Research Associate- UK

Rhian is a Research Associate at Type One Ventures. Based in London, Rhian anchors the firm’s EMEA research, producing sector deep dives and long-form research newsletters across space, energy, robotics, and quantum, and supporting diligence on multistage deep-tech companies across the region. Recent work spans the lunar economy, in-space manufacturing, space-based solar power, and nuclear propulsion.

Prior to joining Type One Ventures, Rhian spent over five years at Deloitte, across strategy consulting and Deloitte Ventures, the firm’s corporate venture capital team. At Deloitte Ventures, Rhian made early-stage strategic investments and built and advised other corporate venture units.

Trained as an astrophysicist, Rhian looks at every opportunity physics-first: what does the technology actually make possible, and what has to be true for it to work at scale? That lens fits naturally with Type One’s Kardashev-inspired thesis. Rhian is particularly drawn to the energy, infrastructure, and space systems that will move humanity toward a Type One civilization.

Rhian holds an MSci in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Bristol, and earlier researched lithium-ion batteries at UCL through the Faraday Institution. Outside of work, Rhian enjoys playing or watching sports or cooking up a new recipe.
