Benny So

Benny So is a Principal at Type One Ventures, where he focuses on investments across artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing, and frontier deep tech. He works closely with founders and management teams at the inflection point between breakthrough technology and scalable commercialization.

Benny leads diligence, valuation analysis, and transaction structuring across primary and secondary opportunities. His work spans growth-stage venture, structured investments, and strategic SPVs in category-defining companies. He specializes in translating complex technical milestones into clear investment theses and return frameworks for institutional capital.

Prior to Type One Ventures, Benny built experience across venture investing, startup operations, and growth strategy in San Francisco and Hong Kong. His background in economics and digital strategy informs his approach to identifying asymmetric opportunities in rapidly evolving markets.

Benny holds a B.A. in Economics and Digital Marketing from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
